Activation Details

How does an upgrade alter reward distribution on a storage network? The Solstice upgrade reached Filecoin Mainnet on Oct. 19, 2026. The status page recorded the activation and noted that the maintenance window closed as completed.

Design Elements

Per FIP-0118, Solstice funds network services through a block-reward split. Each block reward now divides into consensus, service and burn streams. The service stream directs payments to Service Orchestrators who bring paying customers to the network.

Sector Changes

Per the Lotus notes, every new sector received maximum quality-adjusted power regardless of content. Providers could upgrade eligible existing sectors according to the Curio notes. The verified registry and DataCap actors were frozen at the same time.

Software Delivery

The upgrade shipped in Lotus v1.37.0. That release came from the development work tied to the Filecoin project. The changes apply directly to the storage network that received the update on the stated date.

Reward Allocation

The split separates the flows that support ongoing operations from those that cover consensus tasks and token burns. Service Orchestrators receive the dedicated stream to connect customers with storage capacity. This structure follows the parameters set in FIP-0118.

Network Impact

New sectors gain full quality-adjusted power from the moment they form. Existing sectors retain the option to upgrade where eligibility applies. The DataCap registry freeze limits further verified entries under prior rules.

Implementation Notes

The status page confirmed completion of the activation process. Lotus documentation outlined the power adjustment and the freeze on DataCap actors. Curio documentation addressed the upgrade path for qualifying sectors already on the network.

Service Stream Purpose

The service stream supports Service Orchestrators in their role of attracting paying customers. This allocation separates from the consensus and burn portions of each block reward. The division follows the framework established in FIP-0118.

Summary of Changes

Solstice activated on Filecoin Mainnet on Oct. 19, 2026. It introduced the reward split, granted full quality-adjusted power to new sectors, and froze the DataCap registry. Providers gained the ability to upgrade eligible existing sectors under the new parameters.
